By Kinota Braithwaite, Anti-Racism and Anti-Bullying Youth Speaker
When I wrote "Mio The Beautiful," it was born out of a profound desire to empower my daughter and heal the wounds of bullying she had experienced. It was a promise to her—a promise to make sure that children can go to school and be accepted for who they are.
One of the ways I'm fulfilling this promise is by offering schools and parents free access to a recorded reading of "Mio The Beautiful." This means that children can now immerse themselves in Mio's story from the comfort of their classrooms or homes, even if acquiring physical copies of the book isn't feasible.
Free Worksheets for Teachers
Additionally, I've prepared free worksheets and lesson plans for teachers to use alongside the book. These resources not only complement the story but also provide educators with valuable tools to initiate discussions about diversity, inclusion, and empathy in their classrooms.
Author Visits: A Personal Touch
If you find that "Mio The Beautiful" resonates with your students and you'd like to bring a more personal touch to their experience, consider inviting me for an author visit.
I am delighted to engage with students, share insights into the book's creation, and foster discussions about its themes.
These author visits are paid engagements that can enrich the educational experience and provide students with a unique opportunity to interact with the author behind the book.
Let's Start a Dialogue:
Principals and Teachers, I extend a heartfelt invitation to engage in open conversations. Together, let's address concerns, exchange ideas, and craft experiences that transcend. Let's embark on a journey to enrich minds and create a lasting positive impact on the lives of students.
